Who we are

Joshua 1:2 Fellowship is a Ministry where we are focused on reaching drug addicts, alcoholics, gang members, or anyone lost in the streets. Joshua 1:2 Fellowship was founded on April 21, 1988 in San Angelo, Texas by Pastor Mike and Linda Suarez. The Fellowship is a residential Christian Home, Education and Drug Abuse Prevention Program. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and are open to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What we do

The Joshua 1:2 Home is the headquarters for detoxification and behavior rehabilitation. During the detoxification phase of the program, we do not dispense any kind of synthetic drugs for withdrawal symptoms. Instead, we offer alternatives such as one-on-one counseling and motivation to achieve a drug-free condition in the client. While the client is at the Joshua 1:2 Home, they are encouraged to become actively involved in the many activities that we offer. This includes a variety of activities such as positive fellowship with other clients as they participate in Chapel Services, Bible studies, and Discipleship. Joshua 1:2 Fellowship works with the client’s entire family dynamic to ensure that every aspect of the client’s life is positively integrated. We are a not-for-profit 501c3 organization
Primary Client Base

The target client base includes but is not limited to:

people with a potential for narcotic abuse
-
hard core narcotic users (heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, crack, inhalants)
-
alcohol and tobacco users

We also encourage narcotic users that are either on or subject to, state and/or federal probation/parole to reside here and participate in the program as well. Our recommendation is that the client resides at the center for a period of six months. However, the program is strictly voluntary and the client may depart whenever they wish, with or without staff approval. The Home is set apart from other programs in that it is run by a team of clergymen, paraprofessionals and former drug addicts. There are two dorms for clients to reside in providing that they are at least 18 years of age. There are private dorms for both men and women.
Indicators of Success
Success is determined by the following changes as seen in the client:

There is a visible change in behavior patterns. This is evidenced by complete abstinence from ALL drug, alcohol and tobacco use.

A new attitude is seen, one that is wholesome and optimistic. This is evidenced by the positive and rational reaction of the client to everyday problems, obstacles, and unpleasant situations.

The client readily accepts and fulfills their daily responsibilities. This is evidenced in their role as a productive citizen, father/mother, or husband/wife. As a drug addict, the client was seen a parasite to society as a whole, revealed by the costs to taxpayers for incarceration, unemployment, and the commission of crimes to support themselves or addictive habits. There were many more negative consequences for their choices as well. Now, as a clean and sober citizen, they are productive and contribute positively to society as a whole. They are no longer a parasite to society and can support themselves and their children (as applicable).
Short Term Success – One who has been involved in the program and has been assigned to the responsibilities of care giving or position in the church.
Long Term Success – One who has completed the six month program and has either advanced to the Discipleship Training Program or to personal employment and has remained drug free for a period of 12 consecutive months or longer.
Leadership Development Opportunities
Once the client has successfully completed the program and demonstrates a positive attitude and a willingness to be actively involved within the ministry, they have the option to begin training for a position as a leader here at the Home. However, the discipleship for this position would require a commitment of at least 3 years or longer as needed. They have the option for training at the Joshua 1:2 Fellowship at our founding church in San Angelo, Texas. They are then relocated to other cities around Texas and other states to initiate, develop and establish other Homes in these areas.
Our Vision
The Vision of Joshua 1:2 Fellowship is to know Jesus, and to make Jesus known to a lost world. We seek to transform crime and drug-infested neighborhoods through the power of Jesus Christ. To rescue men and women off the streets, lead them to Christ, and train them in the vision at the Joshua Home with the Word of God, through the principle of discipleship as taught by the teachings and example of our Pastor Mike Suarez. To set up Homes and Churches all over the world under the leadership of indigenous Pastors, Home Directors, and Leaders that will continue with our vision.
